What Is the Greater Pittsburgh Civics Bee?

The Civics Bee is an exciting competition designed to ignite middle school students' passion for civic engagement and community involvement. Through essay writing and live quiz challenges, students showcase their understanding of civics and their ability to make a positive impact.

How It Works

  • Submit an Essay: 6-8th-grade students write a short essay responding to a prompt about civic responsibility and community leadership.

  • Compete in the Quiz Bee: Top essayists advance to a thrilling live quiz competition, testing their knowledge of civics, government, and community engagement.

  • Win Prizes and Recognition: Winners receive prizes and community recognition for their civic knowledge and leadership potential.
