
1st Regional Civics Bee
The 1st Greater Pittsburgh Regional Civics Bee took place on May 7, 2026, at Carnegie One Library in Braddock. It was the inaugural year of a new regional competition designed to engage middle school students in civic education.

Students began by writing essays proposing solutions to real civic problems facing their communities. Students then competed in a live, quiz style format, answering questions on government, citizenship, and public responsibility.

Writing the essays required students to research civic issues and construct a clear argument for a proposed solution. The live rounds helped build their public speaking skills and knowledge of civic systems.
